KUWAIT CITY, Jan 27: The Indian Embassy in Kuwait held a reception at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Farwaniya to celebrate India’s 59th Republic Day. Kuwait’s Undersecretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Khaled Al-Jarallah was the guest of honor. The ceremony began with cutting of the cake — depicting the Indian ‘Tri-color’ — by Al-Jarallah and Indian Charge d’Affaires in Kuwait Dinesh Bhatia followed by playing of the national anthems of both countries. On the sidelines of the reception Al-Jarallah told the press Kuwait and India are looking forward to boosting mutual relationship in various domains.
Kuwait is proud, he said, to participate in India’s Republic Day celebrations which reflect the strong time-honored relationship between Kuwait and India. On behalf of Kuwait he also wished India more progress and prosperity. Meanwhile, Bhatia said commerce and trade cooperation between Kuwait and India has seen an upward trend over the past few years.
He emphasized the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to India in 2006 has contributed to boosting mutual relations between the two countries. The function was attended by a large crowd of Indians including prominent Indian and Kuwaiti businessmen and envoys of other nations accredited to Kuwait. The guests were welcomed by Mr and Mrs Bhatia and personnel of the Indian mission in Kuwait. Earlier in the day a large crowd of patriotic Indians, including schoolchildren, took part in the flag-hoisting ceremony at the Indian Embassy. - Arab Times |
