| Transfers made easy for university graduates; ‘Family’ to ‘work’ after one year |
KUWAIT CITY, March 7: Persons holding family visa will be allowed to transfer their visa to work visa after one year from the date of arrival in the country while university degree holders who enter the country on commercial visit visas can transfer their visas to work permits, reports Al-Shahid daily quoting knowledgeable sources from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor. This came after the ministry issued a ministerial decision No 170/2008 according to which expatriates who came to the country on work visas after Jan 14, 2009, will not be allowed to transfer their residence permits, adds the daily. The daily quoting the same sources said persons holding university degrees are exempted from this decision.
However, they will not be allowed to transfer their residence permit more than two times in a year. The daily added that according to the decision domestic workers who fall under the Article 20 category can transfer their residence to private sector Article No. 18 provided they work for the same sponsor. The sources added no new work permits will be issued to veterinarians and their residence permits will not be renewed if they are not approved by the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources. Meanwhile, the Social Care Sector at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor will soon install surveillance cameras at various departments, including the Social Care Complex in Sulaibikhat, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources.
Sources revealed this step is aimed at closely monitoring the performance of the employees and ensuring the safety of residents in the complex. Sources said the cameras will help the management deal with any dispute between the supervisors and residents. On another development, sources revealed the Administrative Affairs Department is currently coordinating with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to prepare job audit files for inclusion in the new state budget in April. Sources said many employees don’t deserve the allowances and other privileges they are currently receiving as they are not qualified for their posts. Sources disclosed some department officials are still receiving work nature allowances even if they were transferred to other departments, adding this is an outright violation of the administrative regulations specified by the Audit Bureau. - Arab Times
